Finished....

Well Bill finally got my bike done. She is a beauty. I took her out for a test ride today. I must say it will take some getting use to but I Think that we will get along just fine. There are a couple of slight adjustments that need made but Bill did a great job of setting her up..

A good week.

I am very happy with what I accomplished this week. My eating was very healthy and I got a couple of good workouts in.

Monday - swam at the Y and got in 2000 yds in about 45 minutes. That includes stopping to stretch out a cramp and water drinks.

Tuesday was coaching and then home to dance and sing with Alexa!

Wednesday - headed to the Y for a run on the treadmill. Set it to the 5K loop. Done in 36 minutes!! YOO HOO...not bad for me! I only walked about 3/4 mile, and when I walked I did it at an incline.

Saturday JG and I are heading out for a ride from my house to Gray's lake and then a run around Gray's. Then it's back home to clean up and reward ourselves for doing so good the last couple of months....Wine Experience! Can't wait!!

Finally!

I am finally getting a good week of training in! Hopefully I can keep it up over the next few weeks.
Sunday - 30 min on treadmill - run intervals - total of 2.5 miles. I then had to coach, with only 6 swimmers total in my lanes, I decided to swim with them. I only got about 700yds in, but did some good sprints to get my heartrate up every now and then.

Monday - 45 min spin class - my legs hated me! I started to bonk about halfway through. Sat up, spun the legs out and finished with some good sprints. computer on the bike registered 10.5 miles.

Tueday - after coaching, I headed back up to the treadmill. I did a little different version of the intervals and got in 2.25 miles in 30 minutes. One circuit on the Freemotion machines and I was pooped!

Tonight will be a off night. Alexa and I are going shopping for Easter outfits!
I will work out again on Thursday after practice and then again on Saturday. A good week so far and I feel great!

Work In Progress

This weekend Bill got started on putting my tri bike together. I love watching him work, there is no way I could take all of the components , put them in the right spots and order to make a working bike. It also takes time, not just a snap of the fingers and it is done.

Below is a pic, there are no cables on it and we just put some cheap peddles on so that Bill could set the tri bars. I think that it is a georgeous bike.

Training it going well, I have noticed lately that I cannot breath very well. After wracking my brain it finally dawned on me what was going on. I have been eating yogurt, .LIGHT BULB! That is why I cannot breath. So I have quit eating the yogurt and hopefully the breathing will come back. I have to be careful with milk products because they make me product mucas and I get bronchitis, well everything that I have read says that yogurt will not do this. Except for me. So no more yogurt.

I have also started to see a chiroprator, I had to do this when I trained for my marathon way back in the early 90's. My hips etc would start to lock up, so the chiro would help keep me in working order. Massage therapy is also a good thing. I wish that I was a low maintance athlete however when running is involved it is not to be.

I have aquired a wetsuit so once the weather and water warms up I can pracitce my open water swimming. Let me tell you putting on the wet suit is a trick in itself. I am glad no one had a camera, Talk about a full body girdle. Now I know what a penis feels like...only I am not ribbed or tropical banana flavor...sorry couldnt resist that visual. :) JG'S adventure in condom buying...

There have been some bad days but I keep telling myself that yes I can do this and I will do this. That is about all for now.

PEACE...JG

Yes, JS is back

Today was the Chili Ride in Newton. The route was a 20 mile round trip to Reasnor and back. This route has some nice training hills. On the way down I would scoot right up the hills then slow down and wait for JS to catch up. Well on the last hill coming into Newton, I am going up this hill for all I am worth look over and JS is right there at my shoulder. I did a double take and thought "What are you doing here" as long as I have been riding with JS, I have always been better on the hills. I could hear her saying to herself something like ,"Yes I can" "Yes I can" Like the little train that could. Yes JS is back and doing great! Way to go JS you are figuring out how to conquer those hills. Before long you will be scooting right up them without a second thought. I will be fighting to keep up with you. Keep up the good work!! I am proud of how hard you have worked!

PEACE...JG

Tri Bike

I will be the first to admit I have no idea what are considered good components, bad components and great components. I do know that I have everything for Bill to build the bike except the seat. He will have to correct me if I am wrong. I believe that some of the components are SRAM and from what I hear they are in the great catagory. The Rims are Roval and the tires hutchinson. The seat I want is from Terry, they have a new tri seat and at the moment are sold out.

Posom checking things out.
