Two Down One to go....

One down one to go another town and one more show....ok Name that tune.

One more tri for this year, it is Sunday Sept 7th Cy-Man. I am as ready as I ever going to be. I can tell that my body needs a break.

After Sunday I am going to switch and work on some of the things that I have found that I need work on.

1. core training
2. weight training
3. stretching ALOT of stretch

Those are the major one. I am also going to try aqua jogging just for something alittle different to do.

I need to thank a few people for their support last week at Hickory Grove. Thanks goes to Kyle S., Kurt, Mindy and Alexa for encouraging me. To hubby Bill for being my pit crew and yelling encouragement during transitions etc. To Julie S for asking me to do the Cy Man last year and getting me hooked then being there to help support me through my ups and downs.

I am excited about this coming Sunday however am ready for a break. I will let you know how things go until then...PEACE

12 minutes-Hickory Grove triathlon

I took 12 minutes off of my tri time from last year. The run was my downfall again this year as it was last year.

Here are my results:

2007
swim: 11:52 (8)
Bike: 52:05 (3)
Run: 44:03 (12)

2008
swim: 9:10 (2)
Bike: 48.39 (4)
Run: 36:52 (10)

The girl who won my class, swam slower then me, was 10 seconds faster on the bike however she ran 8:30 minute miles. Yep the running got me again. It is going to be my main focus this winter.

I have to say that I am happy with my results, it is funny as I am doing the tri I keep asking why am I doing this, it is nuts, I am crazy, I will never do another one. But once I finish I am already thinking about the next one and how to improve. I think that I am crazy most of the time.

JS did a great job but I will let her tell you all about it herself.

JG and JS in the water warming up and trying to stay warm.

My pretty pretty bike

My finish time.

Cy-Man is next on my list, that is Sept 6th then it is time to do some cross training and relax a bit. I am in the process of setting my goals for next year. I will post them once I have them figured out.

PEACE

SUNDAY...

...is the day!
My second sprint tri of the season. JG is also participating. Are we ready?

I would like to say I am. But I am a nervous person. I think it could be my 20th one and I would still be nervous. I feel like I am in better shape. I still haven't got the training that I would have liked in, but that's how it goes when you have a full-time job, a 2 1/2 yr old, a husband that also needs to get out and ride his bike, and a house to keep clean!

This is the same course as the Cy-Man last year, but is now called Hickory Grove Tri. My time last year was 1:46:40. My goal is to beat that by 5 minutes. Transition work should be better, I have a better bike, and I've been swimming with hand paddles and flippers to gain muscle strength. The running will still be my main issue...concentrate on breathing and just go for it is my mentality right now!

deep breaths...try not to think about it...until Sunday!!

A new swim workout

A couple weeks ago I bought hand paddles for swimming. I LOVE them! The Speedo Contoured swim paddle....
I have made a workout and I really like it. It keeps me moving and get my heart rate going. All Freestyle in increments of 200yds...

1. Full swim warm-up
2. Pull only with paddles
3. Kick only with flippers - fast down, easy back
4. Full stroke with both paddles and flippers
5. same as #3
6. same as #2
7. Full swim cool down - no gear
That adds to a 1400 swim and I can get it done in about 25 minutes. It works great for my short lunch hour swims!
